Summer Fun in Marin County

From beautiful beaches and farmers’ markets to local events and county fairs, it’s easy to embrace the summertime when you live at The Strand. With so much to do and see in the area, get ready for a sunshine-packed season.

Farmers’ Market – 10 min. from The Strand
Every Saturday morning from 9 am to 2 pm, the farmers’ market is open rain or shine. Stop by for the freshest ingredients, homemade food and fun activities for kids, such as face painting and crafts.

Day at the Beach – 20 min. to 1 hr. from The Strand
It wouldn’t be summer without your feet in the sand, and Marin County has its fair share of beaches to explore. Check out China Camp State Park, just three miles from downtown San Rafael. This beach includes natural trails, stunning scenery and picnic areas for gathering with friends and family.

Feeling adventurous? Head over to the Marin Headlands. This state park has a dog friendly beach, varied hiking trails and stunning views of the Pacific. It’s perfect for any out-of-town guests or just a fun weekend adventure.

Marin County Fair – 10 min. from The Strand
It’s time for the Marin County Fair! From June 30th to July 4th, “let the funshine in” and celebrate the Summer of Love’s 50th anniversary with a zen garden, flower-power horticulture, 1960s-themed parade and of course, live music, amazing food and dozens of carnival rides and games.

Fourth of July – 15 min. from The Strand
Celebrate Independence Day with festive parades, mouthwatering barbecues and dazzling fireworks at the 65th Annual Corte Madera/Larkspur Parade and Festival. The festivities start early with a pancake breakfast and elaborate float parade, and they go late into the night.

Shopping and Dining – 10 to 15 min. from The Strand
Treat yourself with days spent browsing and eating at the nearby Corte Madera Town Center or Downtown San Rafael. These nearby attractions have everything you need from rows of boutiques, small and large, to delicious foodie destinations. There’s nothing wrong with a summertime treat.
